I’m Miss Fox and I’m the Reception class teacher and Early Years Leader. I have been part of the Silkmore family for 6 years and I love teaching Reception children. My favourite part of teaching is seeing the children’s faces light up with joy and excitement when they first enter a new mini mission, after spending time transforming our classroom into a magical world of fun learning experiences.

When I’m not at work, I love spending time walking Mr Murphy, travelling and reading.

I’m Mrs Marshall and I’m one of the Reception learning support assistants and also a schools Forest School leader. I love taking the learning outdoors, creating immersive learning in our early years setting and finding new and exciting adventures in nature.

When I’m not at work I love spending time with my family, enjoying lots of fun and creative activities.

I’m Miss Stewart and I’m another Reception learning support assistant. I enjoy getting to know the children and supporting each child in making those vital, small steps of learning that together go a long way to creating the best future.

When I’m not at work I love spending time with my family.

I am Miss Robinson, I am a Reception one-to-one support assistant, I work closely along side children who require further additional support during the school day. I enjoy taking part in fun themed activities with the children I support.

When I’m not at work I enjoy playing football and travelling.

We believe Reception is the year children’s learning starts to ‘come to life’ as they begin learning to read and write, allowing them to start their journey into being creative, motivated learners.

What We Teach

Using the EYFS statutory framework we aim to fully submerge your children in their learning through our mini mission based curriculum. Mini missions act as a vehicle to submerge our children into magical lands of learning, where children can feel supported by adults and their environment but are encouraged to achieve independence in learning.

Children will receive phonics teaching using our well-embedded read, write inc. programme. Children move rapidly from hearing sounds, to writing and blending independently. Sound sheets will be provided for home for children to practice with parents and tricky words will also be added when the child is ready..

In Maths we follow the white rose scheme of learning for the delivery of our maths sessions. This provides a clear sequence of learning and progression for the children. Utilizing this curriculum in exciting and engaging contexts enables the children to develop and apply their skills to different scenarios within our mini missions.  We follow the CPA approach of concrete, pictorial and abstract to secure the core skills and use the Number Blocks to reinforce our children’s learning and knowledge.

How you can help your child

If your child is in Reception you can support their learning by:

  • Reading every day

  • Practice phonics

  • Activities are sent via Tapestry at the beginning of each Mini Mission.  Parents can update Tapestry to share learning at home to add to their fantastic learning journal.
