Meet The Governors
The Governing body is a group of volunteers who work together to;
ensure clarity of vision, ethos and strategic direction.
To hold the headteacher to account for the educational performance of the school and its pupils, and the performance management of staff.
To oversee the financial performance of the school and make sure its money is well spent.
In a nutshell the Governors ensure the school is progressing and moving forward in the best interests of the children it serves.

I am now a very proud Head Teacher, committed to ensuring the school continues to move forward and create the best start in life for the children and families in the community.
Mr Keith Rogers
Resident in Stafford since 1988 I am married to Helen. We have five wonderful daughters and eight lovely grandchildren.
Prior to retirement I worked for Nationwide Building Society for 26 years and then Practice Director of Oakengates Medical Practice Telford for 17 years.
In February 2017 I was invited to become a local governor of the school and because of my financial background became responsible for overseeing finance. I will endeavour to ensure that the finances are managed prudently.
Mrs Roxanne Redford
Hello, I'm Roxanne I am married with three beautiful children, In the last 9 years I have been a nursery nurse, working within different settings. I'm currently no longer working due to my children's specialist needs.
Being apart of Silkmore is rewarding to me, many generations of my family have attended Silkmore, starting with my great grandad working as a caretaker in 1948-1974 , my parents attending then myself and my siblings and now my children.
My current position within Silkmore is joint secretary of the school PTFA. I am both passionate and enthusiastic about being involved in the school and seeing new future changes happen.
Mrs Danielle Ayre
I’m married and have 3 beautiful children, one of which is in Year 2 and the other two previously attended Silkmore. I was born in a town called Dalibrugh, located in the Outer Hebrides which is an island chain of the west coast of Scotland, we travelled to different countries with my dad being in the army but I was however mainly raised in Teesside.
Once married then travelled with my husband with him also being in the army at the time, we settled in Stafford 8 years ago.
I’m involved in the PTFA, currently learning sign language and hope to start studying SEN support work in the near future.
Mr Ian Jones
I have lived in Stafford since 1984. I have two children and two grandchildren .
I joined the Governing Board in April 2020 having previously been a governor at my children’s school for 7 years and since retirement at another Stafford primary school for 4 years.
Before retirement I worked for Government for over 30 years working on schemes to improve the environment. I had responsibility for delivering multi team projects ensuring they kept to budget and time.
I am very much looking forward to making a contribution to the continued successful running of Silkmore ensuring the school resources are used most effectively.
Mr Mike Collins
I have lived in Stafford since 1972. Married to Fay I have 3 children, 4 stepchildren and numerous grandchildren. My background is engineering and management and after nearly 40 years In the electricity supply industry, I took early retirement. Still too young to retire I busied myself presenting lectures on both health and safety and systems management.
My interest in education stems from the number of years I was involved in recruiting apprentices and the training of young people. It follows that when approached, I jumped at the chance to become a governor of Silkmore Academy and to offer help and advice as appropriate.
