Meet The Governors
The Governing body is a group of volunteers who work together to;
ensure clarity of vision, ethos and strategic direction.
To hold the headteacher to account for the educational performance of the school and its pupils, and the performance management of staff.
To oversee the financial performance of the school and make sure its money is well spent.
In a nutshell the Governors ensure the school is progressing and moving forward in the best interests of the children it serves.
Mr Graham Cole
Role: Chair of Governors
I am married with 3 children (all boys) and 6 grandchildren and we have lived in the Midlands for 25 years. Until my retirement my background was in international business management covering 12 countries for a Swiss building products company.
I am passionate about the outstanding progress the academy has made and our aim is to maintain that standard and continue to improve the educational environment for the children.
Mrs Joanna Connelly
In the last 10 years I have taught in 3 different schools, and taught across both KS1 and KS2. I started at Silkmore in September 2015 as Deputy Head and Year 6 teacher.
I am now a very proud Head Teacher, committed to ensuring the school continues to move forward and create the best start in life for the children and families in the community.
Mr Keith Rogers
Mrs Anna Gregory
Resident in Stafford since 1988 I am married to Helen. We have five wonderful daughters and eight lovely grandchildren.
Prior to retirement I worked for Nationwide Building Society for 26 years and then Practice Director of Oakengates Medical Practice Telford for 17 years.
In February 2017 I was invited to become a local governor of the school and because of my financial background became responsible for overseeing finance. I will endeavour to ensure that the finances are managed prudently.
Originally from Scotland, I have been living in Staffordshire since 2000. For almost 20 years, I was a teacher and Senior Leader in primary schools but, with two teenagers and a lively cockapoo at home, I decided to step out of the classroom in 2015 and set up my own education consultancy. Since then, I have been involved in training and supporting staff across a large number of schools, including Silkmore.
I would call myself a passionate educationalist who seeks to ensure that every child in every classroom has the chance to experience exciting learning opportunities every day.
Mrs Maria Barnard
I joined Silkmore Academy in September 2018 after initially working for an International IT Company in Marketing Management and 10 years at a Staffordshire residential special school.
I am delighted to be part of the Reach2 Academy Trust as Business Manager for Silkmore Academy and am proud to support the outstanding Silkmore staff team who are committed to the wellbeing and education of the children.
Mrs Roxanne Redford
Hello, I'm Roxanne I am married with three beautiful children, In the last 9 years I have been a nursery nurse, working within different settings. I'm currently no longer working due to my children's specialist needs.
Being apart of Silkmore is rewarding to me, many generations of my family have attended Silkmore, starting with my great grandad working as a caretaker in 1948-1974 , my parents attending then myself and my siblings and now my children.
My current position within Silkmore is joint secretary of the school PTFA. I am both passionate and enthusiastic about being involved in the school and seeing new future changes happen.
Mrs Danielle Ayre
I’m married and have 3 beautiful children that attend the school ranging from reception right to year 6. One of which is on the SEN register. I was born in a town called Dalibrugh, located in the Outer Hebrides which is an island chain of the west coast of Scotland, we travelled to different countries with my dad being in the army but I was however mainly raised in Teesside.
Once married then travelled with my husband with him also being in the army at the time, we settled in Stafford 8 years ago.
I’m involved in the PTFA, currently learning sign language and hope to start studying SEN support work in the near future.
