Welcome to Pre-School!
What an incredibly busy and exciting first few weeks we have had in Pre-School! Mrs Lewis, Mrs Holwell and Mrs Roberts are so proud of all of them “Aiming High” from the very start of our educational Journey.
During the first couple of weeks the children have been investigating their new environment and getting to know all their friends, new and old after the summer break. They have spent time inside and outside the Pre-school setting enjoying finding out what there is to do.
Inside the children have been accessing the painting table, playdough and cutting table, developing their gross and fine motor skills using different small media. They have used their scissors and tried hard to cut play dough and card, this was really tricky and everyone had to persevere and keep going. The children have also explored the home corner, book corner and construction area as well as becoming familiar with all the new rules and boundaries in the Pre-school classroom.
Outdoors they have explored the large sand pit and mud kitchen, the bird watching hut, the large climbing frame and lots of other new and exciting things. Alongside all the nursery activities the children have also been getting used to the different places in the school and meeting new people with some wonderful music sessions with MR D. During this time the staff have been getting to know the children and their individual characters, assessing where they are working developmentally to enable them to plan around each child’s needs and interests. This will in turn develop stretch and challenge for all children in a fun and practical way to enable them to meet their full potential.
The staff have spent time recording all this on the children’s Tapestry Learning Journals and these will be approved and ready for you to view shortly. As parents and carers we always appreciate your input on your child’s Tapestry account, so please do keep adding all the lovely things they do at home for us to share in class.
Well done everyone for settling into Pre-School so well.
