Launch Pad Nursery

The Launch Pad Nursery is a friendly nursery situated in superb accommodation and grounds within the site of Silkmore Primary Academy, operating  as part of the school on a term time basis, Monday to Friday, from 9am to 12 O’clock for the morning session and 12.30pm to 3.30pm for the afternoon session. In addition to this we offer lunchtime supervision to enable children to use the nursery full time.

We have six highly qualified members of staff (details of which are provided under staffing).

Launch Pad offers high quality education to children from the age of 2 years working across 2 rooms (Rockets and spaceships), offering a fun and action packed nursery education for differentiated age groups. We offer a warm and caring environment where children feel safe and each child is given the opportunity to reach their full potential, enabling them to develop their own self-worth. Staff plan activities following the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum to ensure each of the developmental areas are covered, helping each child to progress onto their next stage of development, whilst enhancing their natural desire to learn.

Our outside provision is second to none with a large covered area and extensive, secure playing fields, climbing equipment, creating an environment where children can make their own discoveries both indoors and outdoors, as well as the cultures and festivals of others – both in this country and around the world.

School dinners are provided for nursery children who attend full days at a cost of £2.15 per dinner. These are prepared by the School kitchen and are served in the main hall.

We are proud to be part of Silkmore Primary Academy. The Launch Pad can be contacted through Silkmore School office on 01785 333930

Autumn Term 2016

What an incredibly busy and exciting first term we have had during our pre-school year in the Rockets room! We started our term making building friendships new and old after our long summer holidays. We have learnt all about the rules, boundaries and expectations in our new classroom and have been so super at doing the right thing this term, sharing, having kind hands and remembering to listen to the wishes of others during our play.

Our interests

Our adventure continued with our interest in dinosaur and together we created our very own dinosaur land. We designed and made our own T Rex called Sid, used different dinosaurs to count and practice our number recognition. We also practised using our scissors cutting out different dinosaurs.

A Colourful Winter/Christmas Tale – Narnia

After half term we looked at the change in seasons from Autumn to Winter and linked this to investigating colours, looking at the changes within our school environment, having great fun across our school field discovering the flood, we used this to experiment with different media predicting what would float and what would sink.

We then entered our wonderful winter adventure, creating different pieces of art work using cold colours and lots of different media before travelling through the wardrobe into a magical winter wonder land. A place called Narnia!
